Meet Brittany

Brittany Kowalski, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker with the team at SpotLyte Behavioral Health in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Brittany attended Bloomsburg University for her undergraduate degree, where she majored in social work and had a minor in American Sign Language. She then completed her master’s degree at Temple University in clinical social work. Since graduating, she has worked with clients of all ages and helped them meet their goals as a team.

In life, no one treatment is perfect due to everyone being so different and having their own individual experiences. Brittany uses a “cake method” in her approach to therapy. She is trained in many modalities and uses them as ingredients to build the treatment (cake) that best fits each patient.

She is a certified prolonged exposure therapist and helps to reduce the effects of PTSD in the lives of those who have been affected by trauma. She also has experience in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), which is often used to reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, and poor self-esteem. Brittany offers supportive anger management to help patients control and understand how anger affects all areas of their lives. She also has experience with motivational interviewing, which is a therapeutic approach to resolve ambivalent feelings and insecurities to help patients find the internal motivation they need to change their behavior.

Brittany’s other areas of focus include parent-child conflicts, behavior management for children ages 5+, poor sleep habits in children, anxiety, depression, OCD, bipolar disorders, implementing appropriate coping skills, and emotion regulation.
